Radiologic Evaluation of Upper Gastrointestinal Disease


Abstract
As the development of national economics, the advanced medical instruments have been developed that made available of early detection of disease and prevention.
We have been interested in the early diagnosis of disease.
Though, there are several diagnostic modalities such as radiologic, endoscopic examination and biopsy in evaluation of, gastrointestinla tract.
Radiologic examination is accepted as first choice due to safety, short examination time, less contraindication.
The radiologic examination were performed in 9-18 cases who visited via opd or admissioned Soon Chung Hyang Eum Sung Hospital from July 1st 1990 to June 30th, 1991. The results were summerized as follows.
1. 569 (58.2%) were male and 409 cases (41.8%) were female. 40.2% of cases were 4th decade.
2. 58.4% were unremarkable findings in UGI study. Most predominant abnormality were in stomach (30.4%).
3. Common symptoms and complaints were epigastric pain of discomfort (27.2%). hunger pain (24%) and then easy fatigability (23.1%)
4. Most prevalent group of gastric ulcer were 4th decade (38.5%) then 3rd decade (30.0%). 5. Gastritis is much more common in 4th decade (39.0%) then 3rd decade (31.2%).
